Sakuntala Chaudhary is a 23-year-old girl from South Asia. Her family is Christian, but until last year Sakuntala did not have a relationship with Christ. While living at home she occasionally went to church and pretended to be like other Christians around her, but mostly she enjoyed worldly things. She visited different temples with her friends and performed the Hindu rituals that her friends did; all without her parents knowing.

Two years ago her church leaders found out about this behavior; they prayed and decided to send Sakuntala to an OM training programme for three months in 2015. Sakuntala agreed. During that time she learned many things about God’s love and His great works. She made a decision to follow Christ and then to obey God and serve in ministry.

This January she joined OM’s one-year training, to help her grow more in her walk with God. During the first two weeks, she learned how to be closer to and submit her life to God, and about the Ten Commandments.

One day Sakuntala heard that it is written, “You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the father to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me.” She clearly remembered the things she had done in the past which made her feel guilty and she asked for forgiveness from God and promised to live a changed life. After that day Sakuntala started to focus more on God and obeying Him.

Sakuntala also learned that quiet time with God was an important part of the Christian walk. She put this into practice and soon God started speaking to her through different verses and her prayer times. God gave her a verse, “Call to me and I will answer you, and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.”  Before, Sakuntala worshipped many idols and prayed to them for their answers, but they never gave a response. Now she has experienced God answering her.

“I am so thankful to be in this training and to experience these different blessings,” Sakuntala said. “I know and serve a living God.”
